Central Lakes College presents the magic of Bill Blagg

Audiences will be left amazed at what they see (or don’t see) when “The Magic of Bill Blagg Live” comes to Brainerd at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1.

The show of large-scale magic and illusions at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts is part of the Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center’s Cultural Arts Series.

Author to sign books of poetry at CatTale’s Books & Gifts

Jena Rose, a self-published author, will have a book signing for both of her poetry books, “Entangled by Nature” and Close to Love” from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at CatTale’s Books & Gifts.

Breezy Point Figure Skating Club to host ice show

The

Breezy Point Figure Skating Club

will host the eighth annual “Rockin’ the SK80’s” ice show at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, and at 2 p.m. April 2 in the Breezy Point Sports Center.

“Rockin’ the SK80’s” will feature skaters ages 3 to 17 in bold, fun costumes performing to iconic 1980s music. The audience can expect to see all levels of skating from the skating club and/or participants of the Breezy Point Skate School, which is managed by the skating club.

The event will also include performances by more advanced skaters of the club who will be landing multiple jumps, displaying various spins and advanced choreography to music from artists like Madonna, Van Halen and Cyndi Lauper.

One such skater and coach for the Breezy Point Figure Skating Club, Marie Wallin, recently earned the title of Double Gold Medalist by the United States Figure Skating Association.

During the show, there will be a silent auction on over 60 items valued at more than $2,000 donated by local businesses. There will also be a “Chuck-a-Duck” contest where participants can purchase a $2 rubber duck or 3 ducks for $5 to toss onto the ice to win money.
