Literacy event planned for fathers and children
Allegheny Family Network and the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books will host a Fathers For Literacy event from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 23 at Highlands Community Center, 701 California Ave., Natrona Heights, Harrison.
Fathers and their children age 2 to 12 will participate in activities, crafts and storytelling. Each family will build and customize a book book, review books onsite and select free books to take home.

Annual 5K run/walk to raise funds for St. Margaret Foundation
The 34th annual St. Margaret Foundation Brian Demchak Hope Challenge Run 5K Run/Walk will be May 15 to 21.
Participants will complete a virtual 5K anytime from May 15 to 21 on their own outside, on a treadmill, dance floor or in a pool.
Two in-person events are also planned. The RIDC O’Hara Wellness Walk will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the UPMC St. Margaret Lunchtime Wellness Walk will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 18. Registration is required by April 22 for receive an event t-shirt and finisher’s medal in the mail.
