Recently, different main sublineages of the SARS-CoV-2 variant of concern (VOC) Omicron, and the occurrence of recombination events have been identified. Therefore, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) reiterates to the Member States the need to maintain genomic surveillance activities, ensuring the immediate publication of the genomic sequences obtained in the GISAID platform and immediately reporting the first detection of infections identified as VOC.
