GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Today, there are a variety of events taking place across Eastern Carolina.

In Greenville:

  • The Cub Scouts are hosting their Bicycle Rodeo to help teach kids the elements of bike safety. The event will be in the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, an obstacle course and the chance to sign up to be a scout. Registration is required. Masks are required at the event. The event address is 3500 Galleria Drive.
  • The Pitt County Senior Center’s Springfest runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade goods and crafts like jewelry, clothing and home goods will be for sale. Food trucks will also be on-site during the event. The event location is 4551 County Home Road.
  • The Spring Fling Community Event will feature 50 vendors in the hopes of introducing the community to local businesses and entrepreneurs. Shazia Thomas, owner and creator of SJ Made It Studios, will host the event. It runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at 406 SW Greenville Blvd.

In Washington:

  • The Kiwanis Club of Washington will host its first Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser starting at 11 a.m. at the Washington-Warren Airport. A helicopter will drop 500 numbered golf balls in a target area at the airport at 11:30 a.m. The three closest balls to the target’s center will win cash prizes; $1,500 for first, $1,000 for second and $500 for third closest. Winners do not need to be present. Profits from the event will benefit Bright Futures of Beaufort County and Kiwanis service projects and scholarships for youth in the county. Golf balls can be purchased online here starting at $25 per ball. Deadline to purchase tickets online is today at 10 a.m.

Weekend events happening in ENC

There are a variety of events happening in ENC on Saturday.

In Greenville:

  • Delta Tau Delta is hosting a JDRF One Walk to raise money for type 1 diabetes research and awareness. The event will take place at the Town Commons at 10 a.m. The walk will feature live music, fun activities for kids and food trucks. Registration for the walk is free and people can register here.
  • College students are coming together on the campus of East Carolina University for the Darkness Campus Walk. Each year, students from across the country come together in support of saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. The event is free and 100% of funds raised will go toward research, programs, education, advocacy and a loss and healing support. The Campus Walk is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the Main Campus Student Center Lawn.
  • The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is hosting ” A Night to Paws” fundraiser. The organization is working to save the lives of hundreds of homeless animals by raising funds. The seventh annual fundraiser is from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Hilton in Greenville. Event tickets are $75 per person and include a complimentary cocktail hour, a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres, and a plated three-course dinner. The event will also utilize the mobile bidding system, BidPal. This will allow supporters to easily bid on nearly 100 silent auction packages and purchase raffle tickets for various items through their cellphones. During the event, attendees will learn about the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, hear adoption testimonials, and enjoy entertainment provided by the popular band, Built for Comfort.

In New Bern:

  • Abundant Life Community Services and partnering agencies are hosting the grand opening of the Duffyfield Resource Hub. It is an initiative that addresses the barriers of transportation and service gaps by providing satellite offices in the community. Duffyfield Resource Hub also forms a network of essential service providers in a centralized location. The grand opening starts at 1 p.m. at 1209 Kinston Street.

Family friendly ENC events happening on Saturday

There are a variety of events happening on Saturday for family and friends to enjoy.

In Greenville:

  • East Carolina University is hosting it’s 5th annual Storm the Stadium where people can tackle 3,200 steps for a great cause. The event is one of ECU’s most challenging new traditions. Participants can register here and the cost is $25. Waves start every 30 minutes at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.
  • Spring into Wildwood Park is set to begin at 10 a.m. The event will feature live music, inflatables, kayaks and pedal boats. There will be several food trucks onsite. The event ends at 2 p.m.

In New Bern:

  • The New Bern Historical Society’s Annual Harry Goodman Battlefield Adventure Day is happening on Saturday. The day is full of learning activities, period games and living history. The event is open to guest of all ages with special activities for children 6 to 12-years-old. Check in begins at 11:30 a.m. with activities beginning from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. New Bern Battlefield Park is located off Hwy 70 at the entrance to the Taberna subdivision at 300 Battlefield Trail.
  • Pepsi is bringing an exclusive first taste of the New Nitro Pepsi to New Bern, the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. The event offers residents the chance to experience the soft drinks before the product hits stores across the state. Pepsi fans can get their hands on the new Nitro Pepsi at the Pepsi Store from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at 256 Middle Street. The live giveaways will be at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

In Jacksonville:

  • Onslow Memorial Hospital and the Onslow Memorial Hospital Foundation is hosting the 1st Annual HetuStrong Race Against Cancer event. The event is at the Goodyear All American Speedway in Jacksonville at 2 p.m. Pit Gates open at 8 a.m., grandstands open at 12 p.m. and the green flag is at 3 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to Radiation Oncology. Events include Carolina mini stock challenge plus bomber, legends, bandolero, and powder puff. The race is in memory of Ronnie Hetu.

In Atlantic Beach:

  • Fort Macon State Park is hosting WW II Living History Weekend. The event will have reenactors giving small talks and demonstrations from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. A large collection of WW II military vehicles will be on display.
