For nearly 15 years now, insidethegames.biz has been at the forefront of reporting fearlessly on what happens in the Olympic Movement. As the first website not to be placed behind a paywall, we have made news about the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Commonwealth Games and other major events more accessible than ever to everybody.

insidethegames.biz has established a global reputation for the excellence of its reporting and breadth of its coverage. For many of our readers from more than 200 countries and territories around the world the website is a vital part of their daily lives. The ping of our free daily email alert, sent every morning at 6.30am UK time 365 days a year, landing in their inbox, is as a familiar part of their day as their first cup of coffee.

Even during the worst times of the COVID-19 pandemic, insidethegames.biz maintained its high standard of reporting on all the news from around the globe on a daily basis. We were the first publication in the world to signal the threat that the Olympic Movement faced from the coronavirus and have provided unparalleled coverage of the pandemic since.

As the world begins to emerge from the COVID crisis, insidethegames.biz would like to invite you to help us on our journey by funding our independent journalism. Your vital support would mean we can continue to report so comprehensively on the Olympic Movement and the events that shape it. It would mean we can keep our website open for everyone. Last year, nearly 25 million people read insidethegames.biz, making us by far the biggest source of independent news on what is happening in world sport.

Every contribution, however big or small, will help maintain and improve our worldwide coverage in the year ahead. Our small and dedicated team were extremely busy last year covering the re-arranged Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, an unprecedented logistical challenge that stretched our tight resources to the limit.

The remainder of 2022 is not going to be any less busy, or less challenging. We had the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing, where we sent a team of four reporters, and coming up are the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the Summer World University and Asian Games in China, the World Games in Alabama and multiple World Championships. Plus, of course, there is the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Unlike many others, insidethegames.biz is available for everyone to read, regardless of what they can afford to pay. We do this because we believe that sport belongs to everybody, and everybody should be able to read information regardless of their financial situation. While others try to benefit financially from information, we are committed to sharing it with as many people as possible. The greater the number of people that can keep up to date with global events, and understand their impact, the more sport will be forced to be transparent.

Support insidethegames.biz for as little as £10 – it only takes a minute. If you can, please consider supporting us with a regular amount each month. Thank you.

A3: STILL ALIVE TO ROLL OUT A SERIES OF SPECIAL BLOCKCHAIN EVENTS IN MAY

A3: STILL ALIVE TO ROLL OUT A SERIES OF SPECIAL BLOCKCHAIN EVENTS IN MAY

LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Netmarble, a leading developer and publisher of mobile games, recently announced the completion of the global blockchain ecosystem for its dark fantasy open world mobile RPG A3: Still Alive with the integration of the MARBLEX Wallet DEX Service integration. Following the launch, the game is launching a series of special events throughout the month of May.

  • Red Diamond Giveaway Event (May 3May 23): As a special event for long-time global A3 players and ITU, MBX ecosystem supporters, users can obtain a total of 200 Red Diamonds throughout the servers as follows:

  • INETRIUM Airdrop Giveaway (May 20June 3): Users can obtain additional ITU upon completion of simple missions given by Gleam. Users with the top 100 mission scores will acquire 50 ITU, while users reaching above 160 entries will be eligible to be randomly selected to win 5 ITU. To participate, users need to download the A3 game app and link to the MARBLEX Wallet.

Moreover, the players are urged to check out the additional event to allow ITU to keep its valuation. The players can join the INETRIUM Buyback & Burn Event, where they can swap their ITU for a higher rate of MBXL. The details can be found here.

The recent introduction of the MARBLEX Wallet DEX Service feature to A3: Still Alive allows players to convert Inetrion Ore, an in-game currency, into INETRIUM, MBXL, and MBX, as well as convert to the public currency for real life transactions.

To obtain Inetrion Ore, players will need to visit the Inetrion Dungeon (Tiers 1-3) and use Radienne’s Protection to defeat the Inetrion Monster. After collecting more than 200,000 Ore and linking the MARBLEX Wallet with the INETRIUM Refinery, players can convert the Ore into INETRIUM based on the day’s exchange fee, with a percentage of currency used for conversion. Through the MARBLEX Wallet DEX Service, INETRIUM can then be used to buy and sell MBXL and can be converted to MBX to make live transactions to purchase KLAY.

Set in an apocalyptic fantasy world of swords and sorcery, A3: Still Alive is a cross-genre mobile experience that pairs the enormous and living worlds of Open-World RPGs with the extreme combat of Battle Royale. Players must be vigilant in an always-open Player vs. Player (PvP) environment as they fight against enemies with intense hack & slash combat and prove their mettle in a variety of PvP and Player vs. Environment (PvE) modes. A3: Still Alive is beautifully rendered with splendid console-quality 3D graphics that are brought to life thanks to the outstanding optimization of the Unity Engine.

A3: Still Alive is now available as a free digital download (with in-app purchases) on Apple’s App Store and Google Play, in 172 countries around the world. The game is also available for download as an Open Beta for Windows PC via the A3: Still Alive website.

Man Killed, CPD Officer Hurt During Chaotic Series of Events on Chicago’s South Side

Man Killed, CPD Officer Hurt During Chaotic Series of Events on Chicago's South Side

It was a chaotic afternoon on Chicago’s South Side, as a person was killed in a shooting in Back of the Yards, while a police officer was injured after a carjacker sped away from another scene in West Englewood.

According to Chicago police, the incident began in the 5100 block of South Elizabeth at approximately 3:25 p.m.

At that scene, a 21-year-old man was standing outside when a vehicle approached and a person began firing shots at him.

That man was struck in the torso, and was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following that shooting, the vehicle fled the scene and ultimately crashed in the 1900 block of West 57th Street, according to police.

Three of the four suspects that were in the car were taken into custody by police, but a fourth was able to steal a vehicle from a nearby motorist, police said.

An officer attempted to take the suspect into custody, but he was struck by the vehicle as the suspect fled the scene. He was taken to an area hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

That final suspect was ultimately taken into custody near the Dan Ryan Woods a short time later, police said.

Charges are pending in the case, and Chicago police are continuing to investigate.

Eighth annual Throwdown Series fitness event returns to Penticton – Penticton News

Eighth annual Throwdown Series fitness event returns to Penticton - Penticton News

Come out to Skaha Beach this weekend to see some serious CrossFit competition.

The eighth annual Okanagan Valley Throwdown (OVT) was scheduled to take place at the SOEC in 2020. The event, like many others, was postponed for two years due to the pandemic and the organizers are excited to finally bring it to life.

“We were only a week out from hosting OVT when everything was shutdown for the pandemic. It was a huge hit,” said Lyndie Hill, event organizer from Hoodoo Adventure Company.

“With all the restrictions for indoor events, especially fitness venues, we have had a hard time rescheduling but we wanted to make sure that we could pull through for the athletes who have been waiting for years to compete. We had to make a decision months ago to finalize the venue and decided that, at the time, outside was our safest bet.”

The event has partnered up with Beach City CrossFit at Barefoot Beach Resort, starting the first Skaha Beach Throwdown in the Throwdown Series.

“We now probably have the most unique venue in the history of functional fitness competitions, which we are very excited about,” Hill added.

Energy Capital & Power to Deliver a Series of Successful Events in 2022 – African Business

Energy Capital & Power
Energy Capital & Power

Despite the economic downturn brought about by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Africa’s leading investment platform for the energy sector, Energy Capital & Power (ECP) (www.EnergyCapitalPower.com), hosted a successful lineup of large-scale energy events across the continent in 2021, whereby $2.5 billion worth of deals were signed by event delegates. Against this backdrop, and with an exciting 2022 event lineup, ECP is poised to exceed this impressive figure, ushering in a new era of investment and development across Africa’s energy sector.

A Successful 2021

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions across the continent paving the way for Africa’s event industry to kick off after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ECP served as an events organizer pioneer in 2021, organizing five large-scale energy events in five different countries across Africa as well as a successful conference that was held in Houston, Texas. With over 5,000 event attendees and an online audience of over 100,000, ECP’s world-class, investment-focused 2021 events were considered pivotal, providing a platform for regional and international stakeholders to connect with African energy leaders.

ECP kicked off its event calendar year with the fourth edition of South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP), representing the company’s first post-COVID-19 event. During the conference, presentations and Ministerial keynote addresses made a strong case for investment in the east African nation, providing insight into sector-specific investment opportunities including solar, oil and gas exploration and infrastructure. Meanwhile, ECP also held two investment-centered events in Angola and Senegal. Firstly, an exclusive invite-only event in Angola, which connected the country’s public and private sector elite for a gala dinner and two-day conference, represented the official meeting place for the country’s oil industry and set the stage for sizable deals and partnerships for 2022. Following this event, ECP hosted the first-ever MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference and exhibition, representing the entire region from Mauritania to Guinea. Through case study analyses, comprehensive presentations and exclusive networking events, the event detailed regional investment opportunities with the aim of kickstarting energy growth in the MSGBC region.

Meanwhile, in north Africa, ECP organized Libya’s first international energy event in over a decade. The Libya Energy & Economic Summit 2021 invited regional and international delegations to participate in the reopening of the Libyan economy, while providing a platform for industry-advancing deals to be signed. The most noteworthy of these includes the multiple agreements signed by French oil major, TotalEnergies, which included two agreements with Libya’s Government of National Unity and the General Electric Company of Libya (GECOL), for the development of 500 MW of solar photovoltaic power in the north African country. In April 2022, TotalEnergies and GECOL representatives met to discuss the next steps regarding project commencement.

What’s more, with the aim of introducing American companies to African opportunities, ECP organized the U.S.-Africa Energy Forum, promoting greater investment in African energy and advancing U.S.-Africa partnerships and cooperation. The event followed an online seminar and networking event organized by ECP in July 2021 which centered around exploring diverse investment and export opportunities across Africa.

Towards a Strong 2022 Event Calendar

In 2022, ECP’s event lineup will be no different, with the strong lineup of industry-advancing events expected to bring in millions of dollars’ worth of investment deals for Africa’s energy sector. This year, ECP will be organizing three large-scale events: SSOP (https://bit.ly/3LLB0YT) returns for its fifth edition in September (13-14) following MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2022 (1-2) (https://bit.ly/3vHCgXw), with Angola Oil & Gas 2022 (https://bit.ly/37jojWw) taking place from November 29 and 30 to December 1. As global economies undergo a dramatic shift and investment in African energy reopens, these events will be instrumental in securing the capital needed to drive Africa’s energy expansion. All three conferences have wide-spread government support, are sponsored by some of the world’s leading energy and finance companies, and have confirmed an array of energy experts, industry executives and global investors as speakers. This year’s events are even more concentrated around increasing investment in Africa and comprise the necessary panel discussions, engagement sessions and investor summits to do just that. In this regard, ECP is well positioned to meet its target of exceeding $2.5 billion in deals for 2022.

Nanaimo’s Wastelands buzzing again after second event in VIMX racing series

Nanaimo’s Wastelands buzzing again after second event in VIMX racing series

Some weekend rain did little to dampen atmosphere at the Wastelands, however it did cause some operational challenges with heavy machinery used to help maintain the track in between races.

“We had to delay our practice to Sunday morning because of weather but other than that it went very well.”

Wastelands hosted three events in 2021 as regular racing got underway post-pandemic restrictions. Two races were part of the VIMX series while a March season opener served as a club race.

Wiltsey added many kids and adults turned to motocross throughout shutdowns in other sports.

“Our membership at the Wastelands almost doubled through the pandemic. A big percentage of those are new riders. It’s been great for our sport to see new people into it.”

A full list of results for the event is available on the VIMX website, with division winners from the central Island listed below:

  • Ramido Galdames (Nanaimo) – 1st, 50cc open
  • Baelen Macklem (Qualicum Beach) – 1st, 65cc Open

Numinus Announces the Music as Medicine Event Series

Numinus Announces the Music as Medicine Event Series

“Music, community and connection have always played an important role in sacred ceremonies and are an integral component of psychedelic-assisted therapy and integration,” says Payton Nyquvest, Founder and CEO, Numinus. “Through the Music as Medicine by Numinus series, we are celebrating an emerging genre of meditative music and exploring the role that music can play as part of the healing process, while building connection across a community.”

“Psychedelic therapies are moving into legality across the world, and yet it feels like no one is talking about the music that accompanies them,” says Jon Hopkins. “In Indigenous psychedelic ceremonies,” he adds, “the music is as important as the medicine, and has been for thousands of years. Music is how you navigate the space.”

Following the recent announcement of Numinus’ proposed expansion into the U.S., Music As Medicine by Numinus will be hosted in various cities across the U.S. and Canada, celebrating Numinus’ move into the U.S. and reinforcing its community in its home country of Canada. The first event is in Los Angeles on May 21, 2022 at the renowned venue, Lighthouse Immersive, and will consist of five hours of continuous and entrancing live music and visuals by a line-up of the preeminent artists in this emerging genre: Superposition, Justin Boreta, Matthew Davis’ ambient project and East Forest.  L.A.-based multimedia art studio Strangeloop, known for their captivating visuals for artists such as Lil NasX, Flying Lotus, and The Weeknd, will be fully enveloping the space with live projection-mapping intended to submerge guests in an all-sensory experience. The event will end with a live, 3D spatial-audio playback of Jon Hopkins‘ most recent, acclaimed album, Music For Psychedelic Therapy, experienced in total darkness, followed by an intimate, live piano performance of “Sit Around the Fire”.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Music as Medicine by Numinus event series. The intention is to create a safe container for deep listening,” says Justin Boreta. “This is the way this type of music should be experienced.”

“Music to modern humans is like asking a fish what water is. With music more present than ever, I am excited to be fostering spaces that can serve as a spear tip of exploration and experimentation around using music as a tool for inner insight and growth,” says East Forest.

Numinus is also showcasing its Music As Medicine by Numinus concept at DoubleBlind’s Mycelia Festival in Ojai, California, as well as other cities, which will be announced soon.

Tickets for the L.A. event go on sale Friday, April 29 at www.numinus.com/music-as-medicine-event. More information on the other dates will be released in the coming weeks.

Turkey embraces TV series, social media, sports events for exports

Turkey embraces TV series, social media, sports events for exports

Turkey plans to engage with a new strategy to promote its brands and goods and looks to embrace multiple channels such as TV and sports organizations, as well as new store concepts, as it looks to extend the range of its exports further to remote markets.

Turkey has over the recent years voiced its determination to boost sales to distant geographies and unveiled action plans.

To ensure greater recognition of its export products, Turkey now plans to engage with TV series and movies, video games and names influential on social media, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Sunday.

It cited the draft strategy prepared by the Trade Ministry, which has been conveyed to the related nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) for evaluation.

The Remote Countries Strategy and Action Plan Draft highlights the aim to extend the range of exports and boost sales to 18 countries.

These include the United States, Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, India, Japan, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Chile, Thailand and Vietnam.

The total foreign sales to these countries soared by 42.2% year-over-year in 2021, reaching $27.16 billion, according to the data compiled from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM).

The figure rose from $18.9 billion in 2020, the data showed, despite the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic and the disruption in supply chains.

Turkey currently holds just a 0.26% share of the $8.2 trillion worth of imports of the 18 target countries, located an average distance of 8,500 kilometers (5,280 miles) from the country.

Ankara foresees further opening up to these markets and increasing exports to the level of at least $82 billion.

Turkey’s overall exports reached a record $225.4 billion in 2021, and the government has revised its target to $250 billion and $300 billion set for 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The strategy envisages the setting up of a support program that will ensure greater visibility of Turkish brands at sports and fashion events, including the Olympics, world cups, motor sports and international fashion weeks.

Turkey plans to back the opening of various concept stores in countries where “pop-up stores” and “pop-up retail” concepts have particularly become widespread and in sectors such as luxury goods.

The strategy projects deep analysis and guides for companies for each of the countries, including potential product groups, investment environment, trade and business policies and market features.

Sub-sectors will be determined and the potentials of these in related countries will be analyzed, followed by a setting of target-focused entry strategies, according to the road map.

Sectoral trade delegations will be paying more frequent visits to the related markets, supported by trips of general trade delegations at least once a year.

Turkey plans to boost financial support for the sectoral delegations and increase the engagements in national, individual and virtual fairs.

The strategy also envisages greater support for advertising activities in printed and visual media, also targeting countries’ consumption channels, shopping malls and chain stores. The activities will seek to particularly bring forward the “Made in Turkey” tag.

Other activities related to Turkish goods and services will include promotions and cooperation with influencers on social media.

TV series and movies, as well as video games, will also be embraced to increase the awareness, driven by cooperation with series and movie actors and placement of products on these platforms.

According to the strategy, Turkey looks to support promoting activities by directing pioneering brands to become sponsors and prestigious international events that will be held in the distant countries.

Events that could increase the recognition of Turkish TV series and film productions in the international arena will also be sought after. And support for participation at such programs, internationally prestigious film festivals, biennials and festivals is planned to be increased.
