Meta Launches Updated Safety Guide for Athletes Ahead of Major Sporting Events

Meta Launches Updated Safety Guide for Athletes Ahead of Major Sporting Events

With several major sporting events coming up, including the Commonwealth Games and the 2022 World Cup, Meta has launched an updated version of its safety guide for athletes, which provides a range of notes on how to manage your Facebook and Instagram experience to avoid spam, scams, abuse and more.

The 39-page guide is a handy reference guide to all of the various safety tools in both apps, which is not only relevant for athletes, but could also be of value to anyone looking to get a better understanding of their protection and moderation options in each.

As per Meta:

“This guide is designed to help you prevent, protect, moderate, and escalate on both Facebook and Instagram. We will run through how to protect your password, set up two-factor authentication, understand Page access and take action when you’ve been hacked. We will also walk through how to moderate your Pages, and how to escalate when you experience bullying and harassment.”

The guide includes helpful overviews of each key element, including how to create a strong password:

How to set up two-factor authentication (a key step for account security):

There are also notes on the various moderation and safety tools available on Facebook:

And more specific explainers on things like how to report a profile for impersonation:

Meta Safety Guide for Athletes

As noted, the focus is professional athletes, so some aspects will be of more relevance to those in the spotlight. But it’s a handy overview of the various options and controls on offer, while Meta also includes some pointers on how to maximize fan engagement on your Page:

  • Respond to comments on Facebook – When you engage in the comments section on your own posts (responding to comments or simply contributing to the conversation), the posts may be shown again in your followers’ Feeds, which increases reach and engagement. Responding to comments on your posts also elevates them to the top of your discussion thread.
  • Start with the “Most Relevant” view on Facebook – When looking at the comments section on your post or video, confirm you are looking at the “Most Relevant” view to ensure high quality comments from fans, and comments from other public figures, creators and verified accounts are at the top. This will make it easier and more efficient for you to engage.
  • Pin comments on Instagram – Consider pinning a few comments to the top of your post. By highlighting positive comments, you can better manage the tone of the conversation.

Nothing groundbreaking, as such, but some good reminders of the value of such engagement to help maximize post reach and engagement.

It’s a handy guide, which could be valuable for your process.

Top AEW Star Added To Ric Flair’s Last Match Event, Updated Card – Wrestling Inc.

Top AEW Star Added To Ric Flair’s Last Match Event, Updated Card - Wrestling Inc.

AEW star Rey Fenix has been added to the card for the upcoming “Ric Flair’s Last Match” pay-per-view event.

Starrcast Events announced Monday that Fenix will wrestle AAA stars Laredo Kid, Taurus and Bandido in a 4-Way bout at the 7/31 event in Nashville, TN.

Fenix hasn’t wrestled for AEW since his loss to Andrade El Idolo on the 6/24 “AEW Rampage” episode. Prior to that, he was seen in the Casino Battle Royale the night after the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.

Besides AAA, other promotions such as IMPACT Wrestling, MLW and NJPW are also involved in the crossover event presented by Jim Crockett Promotions. Last week, MLW announced Killer Kross vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr. to the card. Also last week, NJPW announced a match pitting two of their brightest young stars, Clark Connors and Ren Narita, for the Flair swansong event. NJPW will also be involved in Music City Mayhem the day before as part of Starccast V.

Speaking of Flair, WWE brought back the “Woo!” to its signature intro ahead of the 7/4 “WWE Raw” episode, indicating that The Nature Boy and WWE are once again on good terms. Flair would react to the change, thanking WWE for giving him back “my dignity & my life” via social media.

There is still no update on the mystery opponent who will wrestle Flair in his last match.

Jim Crockett Promotions Presents “Ric Flair’s Last Match” will air live on FITE TV as a pay-per-view event. Below is the confirmed card to this point:

* Ric Flair’s farewell match vs. unnamed opponent

* Impact World Champion Josh Alexander vs. Jacob Fatu

* Impact Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rachael Ellering

* The Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)

* Killer Kross (w/Scarlett Bordeaux) vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.

* Clark Connors vs. Ren Narita

* Rey Fenix vs. Laredo Kid vs. Taurus vs. Bandido

UPDATED: Friday’s state track and field events postponed due to weather conditions

UPDATED: Friday's state track and field events postponed due to weather conditions

As CHSAA officials continued to monitor the weather, the cold front moved in earlier than expected. Therefore, today’s track and field state championships has been postponed due to the weather conditions and in the interest of the athletes’ safety.

As we look to formulate a plan for how to complete the remaining championship events, CHSAA weather officials will continue to monitor the weather and search for the best possible solution. Based on the weather forecast, the CHSAA is exploring options for resuming state championships competition midday on Saturday once the weather subsides and Jeffco Stadium officials can get the surfaces cleared, and then finishing the meet on Sunday. If the competition surfaces remain unplayable on Saturday, the meet will be pushed to Sunday and Monday.

As we continue to get updates from our weather service, we will provide further updates. Please check CHSAANow.com and CHSAA’s social media platforms for further updates.

Any decision regarding the status of the meet on Saturday, May 21, will be communicated as soon as possible.
