Viral video compares crowd size at Trump and Biden midterm events in Pennsylvania

Donald Trump and his supporters are famously obsessed with crowd size, and a video has gone viral comparing the audiences between recent rallies Mr Trump and Joe Biden held in Pennsylvania this week.

“Donald Trump and Joe Biden Both held rallies in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania this week,” reporter Benny Johnson, of conservative TV network Newsmax, wrote on Twitter in a post sharing the clip. “Here is what they looked like back to back. Incredible.”

The video, which has been viewed roughly 2.3m times, shows a packed house at Mr Trump’s rally in a stadium on Saturday, compared to a more modest crowd at the president’s speech on Tuesday in Wilkes-Barre.

Mr Trump, in his first major address since the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, indeed brought numerous supporters to the Mohegan Sun Area, which appeared to be at its capacity of 8,000 seats.

The former president used the “Save America” rally – nominally a speech to support Republicans seeking office in Pennsylvania like aspiring US senator Mehmet Oz and gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano – to attack federal law enforcement and make unfounded claims about Democratic Senate hopeful John Fetterman using illegal drugs.

Mr Trump accused the Biden administration of “weaponising the FBI and Justice Department like never ever before” and described the court-authorised search of his property as the FBI “breaking into the homes of their political opponents”.

“The FBI and the justice department have become vicious monsters, controlled by radical-left scoundrels, lawyers and the media, who tell them what to do,” Mr Trump said.

Mr Biden was back in his home state this week as part of his own run of Pennsylvania midterm events.

The Biden speech shown in the comparison video took place on Tuesday in a gymnasium at Wilkes University, a small college with a student body of just over 2,000.

At the event, Mr Biden criticised Republicans for claiming to be the party of law and order, while backing the Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6.

“So let me say this to my Maga Republican friends in Congress: Don’t tell me you support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened on the 6th,” he said. “Don’t tell me. Can’t do it.”

He continued: “For God’s sake, whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? Look, you’re either on the side of a mob or the side of the police. You can’t be pro-law enforcement and pro-insurrection. You can’t be a party of law and order and call the people who attacked the police on January 6th ‘patriots’. You can’t do it.”

Two days later, Mr Biden gave a primetime address in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where the Constitution was drafted.

“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal,” he said, adding that the man he defeated nearly two years ago – former president Mr Trump – and his “Maga Republican” allies “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic”.

“That is a threat to this country,” he continued.

It’s not the first time crowd-size comparisons are part of the political conversation.

Perhaps the first scandal of the Trump White House involved the then-president and his aides making dubious claims about the crowd size at Mr Trump’s January 2017 inauguration.

Mr Trump’s adviser Kellyanne Conway told incredulous NBC host Chuck Todd at the time that the debunked statements weren’t wrong, but based on “alternative facts”.

Unfortunate circumstances: 12 unforeseen injuries that ended UFC main events

For the first time in UFC history, back-to-back main events have ended with a “TKO due to injury” designation.

First, it was UFC on ABC 3, where Brian Ortega suffered a shoulder injury upon his escape from a Yair Rodriguez submission attempt. One week later, Tom Aspinall suffered a knee injury that ended his UFC Fight Night 208 main event vs. Curtis Blaydes in premature fashion.

While the term “freak injury” might not be appropriate to use when discussing a sport that is inherently dangerous, a dozen have ended in unforeseen injuries – broken legs, separated shoulders, eye pokes, etc. – that don’t typically come in the sequence of MMA combat.

Note: Injuries sustained on a TKO due to strikes or tapout due to a submission are not included, nor are retirements on the stool due to extended fight damage or exhaustion. Laceration-based stoppages also are not included since they come as an intentional result of the opposition’s attack.

Injury: Shoulder dislocations happen in MMA, but none perhaps in a bigger moment than Chan Sung Jung’s long-awaited first UFC title fight. Midway through Round 4, Jung’s shoulder came out of its socket after a punch attempt. While the TKO win for Jose Aldo was ruled to have come from follow-up strikes, the shoulder dislocation was the reason for Jung’s initial retreat – he tried to lodge it back into place – and subsequent cover-up. The injury was serious enough that Jung needed surgery. He tore it again in 2021.

UFC Fight Night 74: Charles Oliveira suffers neck injury vs. Max Holloway

However, he recently revealed it was a reccurring neck injury that left his body tingling.

Mexican fans pelted the cage and Stephens with food and beverages – which even caused UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald to hide under his desk. The matchup was rebooked for one month later in Boston. Rodriguez defeated Stephens by unanimous decision.

He suffered a broken tibia and fibula. Adamant on the stool the fight be stopped due to doctor stoppage/injury rather than “retirement,” McGregor got his wish.

Langley City rider Gillian Fraser and her 11-year-old Arabian mare FF Christiana won the “Ranch Rail” open and amateur championship events at the Region 17 Arabian Horse Association competition at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley on Sunday, July 24.

“That’s kind of her forte,” Fraser said of Christiana’s outstanding performance in the test of a horse’s working ability.

Christina is also from Langley, Fraser noted, a product of Flightline Farm Arabians.

“I’ve been riding her since she was two.”

Fraser was happy to win the belt buckle that goes with the championship, and just as glad to be back in competition after a three-year enforced shutdown during the pandemic.

Fraser, who has been riding Arabians since 1992, explained the appeal of the breed.

“They’re known for their beauty, but what many people don’t realize is how versatile they are.”

Cindi Wrate, the show commission chair, estimated close to 200 competitors, most from B.C. and Alberta, took part in the July 20th – July 24th event at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, winning buckles and ribbons in various events.

“We had a couple of folks come up from the U.S as well,” Wrate told the Langley Advance Times.

Wrate was pleased by the numbers of young competitors, aged 10 to 18, who took part.

“There were a lot of young people,” Wrate remarked.

“It was really nice to see the youth.

Wrate said the “primarily volunteer-driven” Region 17 is the largest Arabian horse association in North America (more information about the association can be seen online at www.region17.com).

The association rotates the annual regional event between B.C. and Alberta every two years, but that schedule was disrupted by COVID-19.

“We haven’t been able to be in B.C. since 2019,” Wrate said.

One online account describes the Arabian horse as one of the “most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world” with their distinctive head shape and high tail carriage — and one of the oldest breeds, with archaeological evidence of horses in the Middle East that resemble modern Arabians dating back 4,500 years.

Woman Ezra Miller Allegedly Choked In Iceland Addresses Events Seen In Shocking Viral Video

A woman whom Ezra Miller appeared to choke and attack in Iceland in April 2020 is coming forward with her allegations of the bizarre incident.

Amid mounting controversy surrounding the Flash star, the woman opened up about her run-in with Miller outside a bar in Reykjavík, where Miller — who identifies as nonbinary and uses “they/them” pronouns — regularly frequented.

Speaking with Variety in a report published on Thursday, the woman recalled meeting Miller at the pub and sparking a conversation with the actor. The woman recalls seeing wounds on Miller’s sandal-clad feet, and the actor claiming the injuries were the result of a fight.

The woman said she jokingly told Miller, “But just so you know, I could take you in a fight.” She claims Miller replied, “You really want to fight?” Thinking Miller was playing along, the woman told the actor to meet her in the smoking area outside in two minutes.

She claims Miller initially took her remarks as a joke, but one of the woman’s friends proceeded to instigate the situation, telling Miller that the actor didn’t want to fight, and allegedly antagonizing him. “My friend didn’t have to say that… It was just a joke, obviously — but [Miller] took that literally and got super mad and came running outside.”

This led to the incident, which was captured on video and made headlines, in which Miller is seen yelling at the woman outside the bar, “Do you wanna fight? Is that the deal?”

The woman responds by putting her arms up as Miller approaches her and appears to grab her by the neck. Miller then appears to push the woman to the ground while holding on to her shoulder and neck.

“I think it’s just fun and games — but then it wasn’t,” the woman stated. “All of a sudden, [they’re] on top of me, choking me, still screaming in my face if I want to fight. My friend who’s filming sees [they’re] obviously not joking and it’s actually serious, so he stops filming, and pushes [them] off me as [they’re] still trying to fight me. Two guy friends of mine are actually holding [Miller] back as [they’re] screaming, ‘This is what you wanted! This is what you wanted!’”

The altercation was broken up by a bartender, Reynir, who claims Miller grabbed him by the throat and spit in his face — notably during the early, pre-vaccine days of the coronavirus pandemic.

“[Miller] grabs me by the throat as I’m trying to usher them out the [back] door and tells me they’re not leaving,” Reynir alleged, adding that the actor claimed the woman’s friends had pushed them, “Which they didn’t.”

“They proceeded to spit in my face several times, so with the final push I closed and locked the door,” Reynir told Variety.

The report also included an interview with a woman, Nadia, who detailed an incident she claims to have had with Miller at her home in Berlin this past February.

Nadia states that she and Miller had a consensual sexual encounter in early 2020, and had remained in contact and friendly with one another over the proceeding two years. Then, in February, Miller came to her apartment.

Nadia claims that their interaction was friendly, but that Miller’s mood soured immediately when she said she didn’t want them smoking in her apartment.

“That just set them off,” Nadia told Variety. “I asked them to leave about 20 times, maybe more. They started insulting me. I’m a ‘transphobic piece of shit.’ I’m a ‘Nazi.’ It became so, so stressful for me. They were going around my house, looking at everything, touching everything, spreading tobacco leaves on the floor. It felt disgusting and very intrusive.”

“I asked them if they remember I told them I’m a descendant of Holocaust survivors, so why would they say that to me?” Nadia stated. “They answered, screaming at me, ‘Yes, but how many people of my family died?’ Because many people in their family died. I was like, Oh, OK, this is a game of who’s got the most trauma.”

Nadia also claims that Miller went on an angry tirade, and told her, in part, “I’m a maker of planets. Tobacco is sacred.” Nadia claims she persisted in telling Miller to leave for nearly half an hour and even called the police before Miller finally exited her apartment. She filed a police report and has since blocked the actor’s number and has not had contact since that night.

These reports come in the wake of a slew of legal troubles and public allegations against Miller, including multiple arrests in Hawaii, as well as allegations that Miller has participated in grooming multiple girls as young as 12.

Earlier this month, a Rolling Stone expose alleged that Miller has also been housing a woman and her children on a farm in Vermont in shockingly unsafe living conditions — including loaded guns laying around the house, accessible by the children.

Miller has not yet publicly commented on the allegations leveled against him in recent months.

Living near the Langley airport, young Dhairya Agrawal has developed a powerful interest in aviation.

Mom Shubhangi says when her 19-month-old son hears an airplane passing overhead, he gets excited, which is only a problem when it’s nap time.

“He loves planes,” Shubangi said.

On Sunday, June 19, Dhairya was in his element as the Canadian Museum of Flight at the Langley airport hosted its annual Father’s Day event, where dads get in free.

The beaming boy posed for a picture in one of the museum’s newest additions, a small green kid-sizes plane in the outdoor display area.

Canadian Museum of Flight president Bruce Friesen said there were 140 visitors during the five-hour event, “about double our typical Sunday.”

Elements of another in-progress museum attraction were on display as well.

“Canadian women in aviation” will feature photos and biographies of dozens of women, ranging from Roberta Bondar to Langley airport manager Carol Madill.

“People can come and enjoy stories of the women, past and present, who contributed to aviation in B.C. and Canada,” said Friesen.

Canadian Museum of Flight is located at the airport in Hangar #3, at 5333 216th St.

It houses over 25 aircraft ranging from a WWII Handley Page Hampden to a T-33 Silver Star.

Flight-worthy aircraft include a Fleet Finch, Tiger Moth, SE5A replica, Waco AQC Cabin, Fleet Canuck and Harvard II.

Adult admission is $10 (seniors and youth pay $7), $25 for families.

New promo video highlights huge range of events during Stampede in Williams Lake

Stampede weekend is more than a rodeo, it includes events for everyone

A new video by John Dell and Ultimate Arty premiered at the Williams Lake city council meeting in council chambers on June 7, 2022.

While not your typical location for a video premiere, the city hall hosted the short video for mayor, the councillors in attendance and public attending.

The video showcases all of the many events to take place in the lakecity over Stampede weekend, from the pancake breakfasts, to the street party, to the rodeo itself, car racing and the well-attended rugby tournament.

It of course mentions the Williams Lake Stampede parade with it’s theme this year of “Back in the Saddle Again”, which Ultimate Arty, also known as Willie Dye, has taken on organizing.

So far there are over 50 entries in the popular parade, with more still to come.

Amazon Rekognition Introduces Streaming Video Events

AWS recently announced the general availability of Streaming Video Events, a new feature of Amazon Rekognition to provide real-time alerts on live video streams.

The managed service for image and video analysis can help camera manufacturers and service providers detect objects such as people, animals, and packages in live video streams from connected cameras. Streaming Video Events triggers a notification to the device as soon as the expected object is detected. Prathyusha Cheruku, principal product manager at AWS, explains how it works:

The service starts analyzing the video clip only when a motion event is triggered by the camera. When the desired object is detected, it sends a notification that includes the objects detected, bounding box coordinates, zoomed-in image of the objects detected, and the timestamp. The Amazon Rekognition pre-trained APIs provide high accuracy even in varying lighting conditions, camera angles, and resolutions.

Amazon Rekognition Video relies on Kinesis Video Streams to receive and process the video stream: the AWS::Rekognition::StreamProcessor type creates a stream processor used to detect and recognize faces or to find connected home labels.

To better manage the machine learning inferencing costs, customers can specify the length of the video clips to be processed (between 10 and 120 seconds) and can choose one or more objects such as people, pets, and packages, minimizing false alerts from camera motion events. Cheruku clarifies the benefit of Streaming Video Events over traditional motion detectors:

Many camera manufacturers and security service providers offer home security solutions that include camera doorbells, indoor cameras, outdoor cameras, and value-added notification services to help their users understand what is happening on their property. Cameras with built-in motion detectors are placed at entry or exit points of the home to notify users of any activity in real time, such as “Motion detected in the backyard”. However, motion detectors are noisy, can be set off by innocuous events like wind and rain, creating notification fatigue, and resulting in clunky home automation setup.

According to AWS, service providers can use the feature to create better in-app experiences, for example Alexa announcements such as “a package was detected at the front door”. In a separate article, Mike Ames, Prathyusha Cheruku, and David Robo explain how 3xLOGIC uses the new feature to provide intelligent video analytics on live video streams to monitoring agents.

Streaming Video Events is not the only new feature of Amazon Rekognition. Among the 2022 announcements, Rekognition Video added new languages for text detection, introduced new Face APIs for improved accuracy and improved content moderation.

Video Streaming Events is a feature available in a subset of AWS regions, including Northern Virginia, Ohio, Ireland and Mumbai. The label detection is charged at $0.00817/min, with minute increments. The processing of Kinesis Video Streams is charged separately.
