Hip hop artist Santa Fe Klan to play the Rio Rancho Events Center – Rio Rancho Observer
Rio Rancho — Live Nation Entertainment brings hip hop Artist Santa Fe Klan and his 2022 Summer
Tour to the Rio Rancho Events Center on Thursday, August 25 at 8 p.m.
Joining Santa Fe Klan will be Mexican Rapper Tornillo, as well as Mexican Rapper MC DAVO.
The Rio Rancho Events Center “is proud to offer a range of culturally diverse events,” according to the announcement.

Born and raised in Guanajuato, México, Ángel Quezada AKA Santa Fe Klan has been part of the hip‐hop world since he
was just 12 years old.
Now, 7 years later and with six albums under his name, he continues to impress with his powerful
performances, style and unique sound.
In 2020, he was a finalist of MIDEM´s “Talent Accelerator” and named The Latin
Youth´s voice.

The Rio Rancho Events Center is an 8,000 seat multi‐purpose venue, which opened in
October 2006, and is home to the New Mexico Runners (Major Arena Soccer League) and the Duke City Gladiators
(Indoor Football League).
The arena, which is owned by the City of Rio Rancho, is managed by OVG360.

Santa Maria Public Library extending hours and hosting events for children
Book lovers and children are in for a treat at the City of Santa Maria Public Library.
The library is extending its hours starting Monday, July 11.
The hours will be Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, the library is inviting families and children to an interactive and imaginative program presented by Pyjama Drama on Monday, July 11 at 11 a.m. in the Youth Services Altrusa Theater. The program features play, stories, and songs for children ages 18 months to 3 years old.
Also being held in the theater, preschoolers and caregivers are invited to learn how to create sensory bins on Wednesday, July 13 at 11 a.m.

Evolving look to downtown Santa Barbara brings fresh opportunities and events to business owners and visitors | News Channel 3-12
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The look of Santa Barbara’s downtown has been evolving since before the pandemic, but some of the most creative changes are taking place in real time.
They were started during the pandemic with the quickly laid out design to the promenade featuring open-air restaurant areas and outside bars, live music and creative lighting.
In an area between Haley St. and Sola St. cars were eliminated but the increase in bikes and pedestrians has jumped tremendously.
Next up will be an infusion of city and government funds for new lighting strands in about 40 locations and other festive design features, some by the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization, and some by business owners.
Many more plans are in motion along with a long term master plan.
A full schedule of deep cleaning and power washing on a regular basis will be taking place.
The area normally gets a full cleaning after the impacts from the Old Spanish Days Fiesta taking place in early August.
The urgency to capitalize on the summer crowds is apparent as part of the post-COVID recovery efforts.

Downtown Organization Operations Manager Erik Krueger said, “this is community. This is everyone supporting each other downtown.”
He says the First Thursday events involve businesses over multiple blocks.
“We have 30 venues, a great local band, a market with over 15-20 local vendors,” he said.
A visitor from Boulder, Colorado says in her town, live music in downtown open spaces is a big draw
Patti Miller said, “they have it in one spot. There’s a stage over here all the bands and people dancing and all of that and over here will be your buskers.”
One mom who had a son in the band Glenn Annie says they would love more music in downtown.
Allison Blix said, “he plays a lot around town a lot of venues don’t have stages. So if De la Guerra had a stage he would be here in a heart beat. They have a huge following.”
In anticipation for Old Spanish Days in August, Krueger said “the Downtown Organization will install 120 Fiesta flags up and down State Street. It is a beautiful, beautiful sight to see. ”
He says the downtown members are enthusiastic, “you name it our entire downtown core celebrates with everything they got.”

Santa Barbara Music Events hosts Songwriters Showcase for youth scholarships | News Channel 3-12
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara Music Events opened up a Songwriters Showcase on Sunday with entries from all over the nation, according to event director Joseph D’Arezzo Natale.
The festival was free to the public, and the winners will have their songs professionally produced, mastered and presented to industry professionals with the opportunity of their songs being used for series and movies.
Event organizers said all proceeds from the showcase will go towards youth scholarships for tutoring in academics and enrichment in music, art, theater and fitness.

Santa Barbara International Film Festival holds Women’s Panel on closing day events | News Channel 3-12
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – The Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicked off its closing day with a Women’s Panel on Saturday.
SBIFF said the Women’s Panel is where “Oscar-nominated women from all corners of film production, from editing, directing, costuming, casting, production design, and producing, come together to discuss their unique experiences in the film industry.”
The panelists for today’s event included:
- Jessica Kingdon, Director of the documentary “Ascension”
- Lynn Harris, Producer of the film “King Richard”
- Diane Warren, Composer of Oscar-Nominated Original Song “Somehow You Do”
- Amber Richards, Production Design for “Power of the Dog”
- Elizabeth Mirzaei, Director of the Oscar-Nominated Short Film “Three Songs for Benzair”
